Altibox Carrier have built key elements of our own network to provide the highest performance in terms of throughput, latency and resilience on our routes. This demonstrates that we have a very high level of technical and operational skills within our organization.

We have invested in the latest network technology, from market leading vendors, to underpin our service capability, and can offer 400Gbit/s coverage on 100% of our network – with higher speeds to come.

We can tailor solutions to meet your needs – it is a key part of our success to date. Altibox Carrier is part of the Lyse Energy group, one of the biggest Energy operators in the Nordics, so has very sound foundations.

Why use Wavelengths?

Wavelengths are ideal for transporting large volumes of data across long or short distances, especially when that data has to meet strict delay or performance requirements. We use DWDM technology to carry multiple wavelengths of light (as different colours) over the same optical fibre across our network. Utilising the latest DWDM technology we can carry up to 800Gbit/s over a single wavelength across each of our major routes into and around the Nordics. With the next generation of DWDM technology we will be able to double this capacity.


What applications do wavelengths support?

Wavelength services support point to point connectivity at speeds up to 400Gbit/s, and are typically used to support transport of bandwidth intensive applications such as video, BC/DR (Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery), workload transfer and AI (Artificial Intelligence).

Because of the mission critical nature of most wavelength traffic some level of protection or resilience is required, so various options are available up to dual diverse links.

  • We have invested extensively in our network over the past n years.
  • We have built 3 key fibre routes: NO-UK from Stavanger to Newcastle; from Stavanger to Oslo and from Larvik to Hamburg
  • We offer the highest throughput and the lowest latency on our routes
  • We have PoPs in 13 key cities in Nordics, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Brussels & Ireland
  • Our network PoPs are present in a number of Commercial DC locations, which enables us to provide access directly into key Cloud Providers at these PoPs
