Altibox Carrier Appoints Microsoft Veteran Martin Dowling as Chief Technology Officer

Stavanger, Norway – January 5, 2026

Altibox Carrier today announced the appointment of Martin Dowling as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective January 1, 2026. Dowling brings 26 years of experience across the IT and telecommunications sectors and joins Altibox Carrier from Microsoft’s Cloud division.

Dowling spent the past 12 years at Microsoft in several senior roles. Most recently, he served as Network Acquisition Lead Manager, where he led a team of network acquisition specialists for geographical regions in EMEA, with a primary focus on hyperscale data center connectivity.

“During my time at Microsoft, I have worked with data center operations, large-scale network delivery and extensively in network acquisition,” said Dowling. “My most recent role involved leading a highly specialized team responsible for network acquisition across EMEA regions.”

Originally from Ireland, Dowling has been based in Cambridge, UK, for the past seven years.

Strengthening Ties with Hyperscalers

Svein Arild Ims, CEO of Altibox Carrier, said Dowling’s deep technical expertise and industry insight will be instrumental as the company accelerates its international growth.

“Martin brings extensive experience from both technical and procurement-focused roles within one of the world’s leading cloud ecosystems,” said Ims. “This competence is critical as we continue to meet the rapidly growing demands of data centers and hyperscalers.”

Dowling said he was drawn to Altibox Carrier’s long-term vision and growth ambitions.

“What attracted me to Altibox Carrier was the strong investor appetite and the company’s clear ambition to build new, high-capacity network infrastructure across the Nordics and beyond,” he said. “I look forward to contributing to the company’s journey from a strong regional player to a truly international carrier, connecting the Nordics to global markets.”
