Dark Fiber

We have built our own routes to provide maximum capacity in terms of fibre quantity and use of the latest fibre technology.

Our own build routes have been designed specifically to minimize latency. All of this demonstrates that we have a very high level of technical and operational skills within our organization.

We can tailor solutions to meet your needs – it is a key part of our success to date. Altibox Carrier is part of the Lyse Energy group, one of the biggest Energy operators in the Nordics, so has very sound foundations.

Why use Dark Fibre?

Dark Fibre is the fundamental building block for telecoms networks globally. It is used by companies who want to have total control of the traffic and services they are running over it. Typically these companies have data transport requirements well in excess of available wavelength and spectrum services.

What applications do wavelengths support?

Companies using dark fibre will be planning to operate their own telecoms infrastructure on top of it – a mixture of optical, ethernet and/or IP infrastructure. They will be wanting to transport multiple Tbit/s of data between key locations – on both subsea and terrestrial routes. They will be happy to build and operate their own network.

Network Coverage and Investment

We have invested extensively in our network over the past n years. Dark Fibre is available on the 3 fibre routes we have constructed: NO-UK from Stavanger to Newcastle; from Stavanger to Oslo and from Larvik to Hamburg. Subject to availability, we are able to procure dark fibre for other routes from 3rd party operators.

Typical Dark Fiber Use Cases

Long haul connectivity across subsea and terrestrial routes and into/between key DataCentre (DC) and Cloud locations.

Ultra high speed connectivity between key DC locations.
