Earlier this month, we participated in a panel discussion at the Capacity Europe conference in London, alongside companies like Meta. The panel explored what makes a region attractive for new data center development.

While participants held differing views, there was one clear consensus: data centers require abundant access to green energy, a criterion Norway meets in full. In addition, Norwegian policymakers have established a supportive environment for the data center industry, and we enjoy both stable political conditions and ample available space. Together, these factors make Norway a highly attractive location for data center operations.
Some critical voices might argue that Norway is remote, too far from the main European hubs. However, we have responded – and continue to respond – to this concern with excellent networks connecting Norway to the UK and Europe, ensuring that data travels quickly and securely to where it’s needed.
Let’s be candid: how many data applications are truly time-sensitive, requiring response times measured in microseconds? The reality is that most data center activities don’t need such ultra-low latency and perform flawlessly, even with a millisecond or two added during transit.
